The Battle of Shiloh: May It Never Be Forgotten On April 5th, 1862, the fields and thickets surrounding Shiloh church was just another peaceful backwoods landscape. Soon it would undergo a horrific transformation. The cheerful chirping of birds would be replaced by whizzing of flying pieces of metal shot with the intent to kill. The green grass of the hillsides would be trampled and splattered his blood and gore.
